Crawford County R-1 will be offering FREE breakfast and lunch to ALL students for the 2023-2024 school year!
We are pleased to inform you that Crawford County R-1 School District will be implementing a program available to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Great news! All enrolled students at Bourbon schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school
at no cost to your household each day of the school year. Parents there are no action steps for you to take at this time to participate in this program. We look forward to serving your students beginning August 22, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Valli Ertl at Central Office, 573-732-4426.
Although students will automatically be eligible to receive free meals, it is important to note that families will be asked to still complete the free & reduced form. Completing the form ensures individual eligibility for certain state and federal programs as well as additional school funding, so it is extremely important for all families to return it.
Studies have shown that children who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing school meals to all children at no charge, we hope to create a better learning environment for our students. All food items we serve follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals.
We ask that you please encourage your child to participate in the school meal program by eating breakfast and lunch at school each day. Again, breakfast items and plate lunches will be free this school year. Additional menu items will be available for purchase, like milk in our elementary schools and à la carte items at the high school.
