Any person wishing to file for the Crawford County R-1 School District Board of Education may do so at the office of the Superintendent of Schools, 1444 Old Highway 66, Bourbon, Missouri beginning Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 8:00AM through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, during regular office hours. December 31, 2024, the office will be open from 3:00PM – 5:00PM. No filings will be accepted on days that district offices are closed from inclement weather. Filing will also not occur on the following holidays when the school district’s offices are closed: December 23-27, 2024.
An election for two seats on the board will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Both seats carry a three-year term.
The last day to file as a write-in candidate for the April 8, 2025 municipal election is March 28, 2025. Candidates must come to the Crawford County Clerk’s office to file.
Candidates must be citizens of the United States and resident taxpayers of the district who have resided within the district and state for one year preceding their election and who are at least twenty-four (24) years of age.
Senate Bill 380, section 13 requires that all school board members elected or appointed after August 28, 1993 will be required to complete 18.5 hours of training and orientation during their first year.
Under the provisions of Missouri Statute Section 115.124, if the number of candidates who file is equal to the number of positions to be filled by the election (two), no election will be held. However, if the number of candidates filing exceeds the number of positions at any time during the filing window, the annual school board election will be held on April 8, 2025.
