Bourbon Teacher's Assocation

The Bourbon Teachers Association (BTA) is an organization that exists to work for you.  It is only as strong as its members.  We are encouraging all teachers to join this group so we truly can represent all teachers. The more members we have, the more effective BTA can be.

The BTA serves as a liaison between faculty and administrators.  A general BTA meeting was held last Wednesday to elect officers and committee members.  Usually there is no need for further general meetings but we will keep members up-to-date via email.  The current Executive Committee is made up of Michelle Payne (President), Traci Courtouise (Vice President), Shelly Turnbough (Secretary), Trish Lewis (Treasurer), Angie Bloomner, Nicole McCoy, Heather Cox, Dawn Roberts, and Terri Rowden. As a BTA member with concerns, you can talk to any member of the Executive Committee.

The BTA is also responsible for the welfare committee.  The welfare committee addresses such concerns as salary issues, working conditions, school calendar, etc.

BTA dues are $12 per school year.  BTA dues will be due by Thursday, October 25th. A portion of the money for the dues goes toward a scholarship for a senior pursuing a career in education.  For the past seven years, BTA has awarded a $250 scholarship to a BHS senior.

To further assist with the scholarship, BTA will again offer a jeans week.  It will be February 4-8thFor $5 you may wear jeans for the week; for $10 you may wear nice athletic pants/sweats.  You may pay your money with your dues or at a later date.

Please send dues/jeans money to Trish Lewis at the high school or you may pay any executive committee member.
